OAP Cleaner

OAP Cleaner is a patented solution formulated to not only clean your orthodontic appliances and devices, but also kill 99.9% of bacteria, germs, microbes and viruses living on them within one minute of application.
Containing a mild pH and gentle cleaning agents, OAP Cleaner can avoid possible discoloration or abrasion while killing bad odor-causing germs.

Founder Mike Rohinsky conceptualized the idea after he received his first tray of clear aligners two years ago upon the suggestion from his dental hygienist wife. Within days of bringing the aligners home, Mike noticed a significant yellowing as well as a foul odor emanating from his $4,000 appliance. He asked his wife what her office suggests cleaning them with and she answered, “Well, there really isn’t any effective and efficient product so our office suggests using vinegar.”

After hearing that answer, Mike proceeded to research alternative ways to achieve an effective level of hygiene for his huge monetary investment. The research not only yielded unsatisfactory answers such as bleach, ineffective tablets and toothpaste, but it also gave him a detailed list of the potential viruses, bacteria and germs that linger on dirty appliances.

Driven by his wife’s passion for dental hygiene, and guided by renowned dental professionals, Mike patented a method and formula that not only kills 99.9% of viruses, bacteria and fungi, but also does so in less than 60 seconds.

The Dental Geek had the opportunity to chat with Chief Operating Officer, Matt Davidson about the development of OAP Cleaner.

OAP Cleaner
The Dental Geek: What makes OAP Cleaner different from other orthodontic appliance cleaners?

Matt Davidson: OAP Cleaner’s uniqueness is both in method and application. The products that people were forced to use before OAP came along were both time-consuming and woefully inadequate. By coming up with an application that works the same way as soap, we have introduced true on-the-go mobility to dental device users. All you need is running water and a bottle of OAP. For all those people that previously had to use a denture-soaking machine or time-consuming tablet, OAP is giving them their freedom back. All you need to do is pump OAP onto the appliance, scrub and rinse.

We are also unique in our method. OAP Cleaner doesn’t just deal with the odor-causing bacteria but takes hygiene to the max and kills 99.9% of bacteria, viruses and fungi. Doctors have been documenting the spread of diseases and germs via the mouth for decades and until OAP came along, dental appliance users have been left vulnerable. OAP’s BPA-free formula is gentle enough to use on ANY removable device, but tough enough to have your device looking brand new.

The Dental Geek: What are the benefits that come with using OAP Cleaner for your orthodontic appliances vs. cleaning with a toothbrush?

Matt Davidson: For starters, cleaning a dental appliance with toothpaste and a toothbrush can actually ruin the structure of the appliance. Most appliances have a level of porosity that fluoride can destroy. Furthermore, although toothpaste and especially water might make an appliance look semi-clean, it does not, however, kill the microbial agents clinging to the device. Our patent-pending formula was designed so that it kills harmful agents on contact within 60 seconds in an on-the-go bottle that can be carried in a pocket or purse. Home cleaning remedies such as toothpaste, vinegar, bleach, etc. can corrode the structure of devices while only giving a subpar artificial cleaning.

The Dental Geek: Do you plan on exhibiting the OAP Cleaner at any upcoming dental conventions or trade shows?

Matt Davidson: We have been attending as guests at all the major shows in the past and will be exhibiting in the future. We plan on exhibiting at the major association shows nationwide.
For a full list of our exhibiting itinerary or to set up a meeting, feel free to give us a call at

The Dental Geek: Do you have any other products in development for the future?

Matt Davidson: With the tremendous success of our 3.38oz 3-month supply bottle, our team has been working long and hard to build our product line. We have a 1.5oz foaming action bottle that will be offered within the month. Additionally we are in development of three more products that will only add to the level of on-the-go hygiene our customers can attain.

The Dental Geek: How can we learn more about OAP Cleaner?
